Introduction
Sue Burleigh is a Staff Nurse at Blandford Hospital, Dorset, UK and also works part time as a cartoonist. Some of her past work includes The Stour Valley News and Western Gazette. Sue has worked on various freelance projects including educational projects for the NHS. She is a long standing member of the Cartoonists Club of Great Britain and is also a member of the Federation of Cartoonist's Organisations (FECO), an International Cartoon Body. Sue's other passions include Landrover's and Traveling.
The Old Mission!!
In 2005, Sue plans to take 80 days off from the NHS. During that time, there will be a long trip circuiting Europe in a ex military Landrover Ambulance. While traveling, Sue will collect cartoons from well known cartoonists in the European Union. These cartoons will then be made into a book to raise money for Comic Relief.
The New Mission!!!!!!!
Unfortunately she will now be leaving Murdoch behind and instead will be doing Toontrek via train; bus; plane ; donkey; ferry etc....... This change came about because of the huge Insurance costs of taking Murdoch (a Series III ex Army Landrover Ambulance) to Europe and beyond. The costs would outway the charity money made for Comic Relief.
The new plan is actually more flexible and also means she can travel faster and further; meaning more Cartoons! The Route-plan so far is: U.K. and Ireland > France > Belgium > Germany > Czech Rep > Slovakia > Yugoslavia > Romania > Turkey > Iran > Egypt > Croatia > Italy > Spain > France (St Just Cartoon Festival)
There will be regular updates every month via email to the Jester Magazine (the magazine of the Cartoonist Club of Great Britain) and The Foghorn (the magazine of the Federation of Cartoonist's Organisations) plus this website.
Having traveled through most of Europe, by the time the journey gets to Spain, there will be enough cartoons for an exhibition, which in turn will also raise money for Comic Relief.
Murdoch will still be playing a large part, and will be seen around the country at various fund raising activities!!
